Influence Style Indicator Certification Program
The same pitch that wins over one stakeholder falls flat with the next.
Multiply that across an organisation and the cost adds up: good ideas stall because the people who need to buy in aren’t convinced, change initiatives meet resistance, and cross-functional projects lose momentum because no one can bring the other side round. Often, the instinct is to push harder in the same way — which rarely works any better the second time.
There’s more than one way to influence or motivate others. Successful leaders and team contributors understand this — they adapt their style to the audience and the situation, rather than relying solely on the style that comes most naturally to them.
Understanding how people naturally influence others gives you a practical framework for adapting your approach, without changing who you are.
The Influence Style Indicator™ (ISI) is a psychometric assessment that identifies an individual’s preferred style of influencing others, along with their secondary and underutilised styles, across five approaches:
• Rationalizing — persuading with logical, data-based reasoning.
• Asserting — pushing a position directly and standing firm under challenge.
• Negotiating — working towards outcomes that satisfy shared interests.
• Inspiring — motivating others around a shared vision or new possibility.
• Bridging — building influence through collaboration and relationship.
Self-administered in about 10 minutes, the assessment generates an Individual Report covering an individual’s strengths and the pitfalls of over-relying on one style, with practical guidance for using underused styles more effectively. A Group Report is also available, showing a team’s dominant and underutilised influencing styles.
