The B❒X® Certification
Every change begins with a shift in mindset
Are you striving to lead change in a way that actually sticks, moving your people beyond surface-level conversation into the kind of self-awareness that transforms how they think, decide, and behave?
The B❒X is an experiential mindset-shift tool created by Jimbo Clark and used in over 30 countries to make invisible thinking visible and turn insight into action.
What is The B❒X® by InnoGreat?
The B❒X by InnoGreat takes the phrase “think outside the box” literally.
Created by Jimbo Clark, it’s a physical tool that participants use to map their own assumptions, patterns, and unspoken rules across six surfaces. They then step outside that thinking and rebuild it, leaving with a tangible artefact that reinforces the shift long after the session ends. The methodology scales from one-to-one coaching to audiences of 500, works in over 20 languages, and is used by senior leadership teams, coaches, and change practitioners around the world.
Why The B❒X Works
The B❒X was created by Jimbo Clark, founder of InnoGreat, and has been delivered in more than 30 countries, 18 languages, and 200 organisations, with over 30,000 participants globally. It sits in the hands of C-suites at Fortune 50 companies, the UN, global banks, leading accounting firms, and education institutions from secondary schools through postgraduate programmes.
What makes it different is simple. Most tools focus on content. The B❒X focuses on how people actually think.
Using a physical, tangible box as the centrepiece of a facilitated experience, participants are guided to reflect on the invisible filters shaping their decisions, write and draw their own thinking, step outside of it, and rebuild it with new possibilities. The artefact goes home with them, which is why the learning keeps working long after the workshop ends.
The B❒X is created to make…
Invisible - Visible
Change starts with awareness. Using the B❒X to map inner thinking unlocks powerful insights.
Unconscious - Conscious
The B❒X deepens self-reflection and sharing, turning unconscious bias into conscious choice.
Impossible - Actionable
The B❒X includes a built-in action planning tool within the physical artifact, making it visible, shareable and valued by participants.
That multi-layer design is what creates change that travels from the training room back into the business. We take the phrase “Think out of the box,” literally to challenge the status quo and quickly deliver breakthrough change of any scope or scale.

Programme Structure
B❒X Certification is a four-step process that takes you from experiencing the B❒X to delivering it with confidence. Steps 1–3 are online and self-paced; Step 4 is a live session that completes your certification.
- Step 1 — Course Overview (30–60 minutes) Review the licensing agreement and understand the certification process while your B❒Xes are on the way.
- Step 2 — Have Your B❒X Experience (self-paced) Go through the B❒X exactly as a participant would — reflect, write, draw, wear, tear, share, and repair — then share your insights with your instructor via VideoAsk.
- Step 3 — How to Deliver the B❒X (self-paced) Work through every section and slide with written and video explanations, examples, exercises, and customization notes, using the Step Three Design Deck as your primary design tool.
- Step 4 — Certification Session or Call (live) Bring your questions, build a session plan for your first delivery, and demonstrate your understanding by designing your own B❒X Experience. You complete Steps 1–3 first, then join Step 4.
Total self-paced time: approximately 5–8 hours across Steps 1–3, plus the live Step 4 session.
Ways to Complete Step 4:
- One-on-One — flexible, personalized support at your own pace; best if you have time or location constraints, or a very specific use for the B❒X.
- Group Certification — a short live course (typically around 2 days) learning alongside other facilitators.
- BOXCON — an immersive in-person experience that combines certification with practice, community, and new applications. All three paths lead to the same certification.
Who Should Attend?
Prior facilitation or coaching experience is recommended. The B❒X gives you the structure and the tool, and builds on your existing ability to hold a room.
- In-house HR, L&D, and OD professionals If your work involves running workshops, leadership programmes, or team interventions, the B❒X gives you something lasting to bring back into the organisation.
- Independent coaches, consultants, and facilitators Add a distinctive, research-informed tool to an existing practice. The B❒X works as powerfully in a coaching chair as it does on a conference stage.
- Trainers and educators From corporate learning to secondary, graduate, and postgraduate education, the method adapts to audience, topic, and language with very little lift.
- Consulting firms and teams building internal capability Some organisations choose to certify multiple facilitators so the B❒X becomes part of how they do change at scale. Group certification supports this well.
The B❒X® Difference
No Workbooks
Everything required to create a truly memorable workshop is built into The B❒X, an artifact that continues to support lasting change well beyond the program itself.
Scalable from 1 to 1,000
Imagine using the same tool one day for executive coaching, and the next for a conference of over 300 people. The B❒X becomes your go-to for breaking through unconscious barriers and enabling results at any scope and scale.
Participants Directed Change
One size does not fit all. The B❒X is not prescriptive, it does not tell people what to think or how to change. Instead, it guides participants to explore their own thinking and create new models that unlock fresh possibilities and results.
Virtual and Hybrid Ready
The B❒X creates a shared experience through a meaningful physical artifact that deepens discussion and insight across any location. It is easier to send a B❒X to someone than to bring them into a training room.
And It's FUN!
The B❒X uses a research based, multi sensory approach to engage both mind and body, helping participants generate new possibilities and build habits that lead to better results.
B❒X® Use Cases
Some clients call it the Swiss Army Knife of change. That captures it well. The same tool, used with intent, opens very different conversations depending on what you put around it. Here are some of the ways teams across the region and around the world are putting the B❒X to work.
Team alignment
When a leadership team cannot agree on what they are trying to do or how they want to work together, no amount of strategy work will fix it. The B❒X helps each person draw out the boundaries of their individual thinking first, then helps the group build a shared box to operate within. That shared box becomes a working agreement, covering the goals everyone is chasing, the behaviours they will hold each other to, and the measures that actually matter.
Team chemistry
Cross-cultural teams carry a lot of unspoken assumptions about how things should be done. The B❒X surfaces those assumptions in a way that feels safe rather than confronting. It has been used at scale, including rollouts to thousands of employees across multiple countries, to build empathy and shared language inside diverse global workforces.
Senior leadership alignment
Executives often discover, halfway through a B❒X session, that they have been using the same words to mean different things. The tool gives them a way to challenge their own assumptions, get aligned on direction, and shape a communication plan the rest of the organisation can actually follow.
Onboarding
The mindset that gets someone hired is rarely the mindset that helps them thrive. New hires, especially top performers fresh from university, often need help making the shift from individual contribution to working inside a complex organisation. The B❒X gives them a structured way to think about that shift in their first weeks on the job.
Stretch goal achievement
Comfort is the quiet killer of ambition. When a leadership team or sales force has been winning for a while, complacency settles in. The B❒X helps people see the thinking that is keeping them in the safe zone, and gives them a shared language for stepping back out of it.
Wellness and mental health
Mental health and wellness can be difficult to raise at work without people shutting down. The B❒X creates a safer entry point. The core message is that you can have more of what you actually want, with less pressure, by adjusting the unconscious thinking that is no longer serving you. That framing tends to land in a way that traditional wellness talks do not.
Creativity
Most people believe they are not creative. The B❒X helps them notice that creativity is less about talent and more about thinking. Participants explore whether they are an “in the box” or “out of the box” creative, then work out how to use their natural style alongside others to solve real problems.
Keynotes and kick-offs
The B❒X scales easily from fifty to five hundred plus participants. Every person has their own box to work with, so pairs, tables, and small groups can do activities without extra facilitators. With the right sound and lighting, a single facilitator can hold a very large room.
If you are planning a conference, kick-off, or town hall, the B❒X can turn a passive listening event into something your people will still be talking about months later.
Sustainability
The first step towards a more sustainable organisation is a shift in thinking. From me to we. From “I can’t” to “I can”. From reducing harm to creating good. B❒X programmes have been used by the United Nations, major corporates, and educational institutions to drive the kind of mindset change that leads to genuinely different choices.
Transitions
Whether someone is stepping into a new role, preparing for senior leadership, or returning from extended leave, the B❒X gives them a way to map the thinking that fits the next chapter. It works in large group settings and just as well in one to one coaching.
Education
Schools and universities use the B❒X with secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate students. Common applications include anti-bullying programmes, creative thinking development, and career counselling, all of which benefit from helping young people see their own thinking more clearly.
